Harry Redknapp has insisted that Luka Modric’s Tottenham career is far from over, the Sun understands.
The Spurs boss has admitted that Chelsea’s summer long chase for the 25-year-old had left him unsettled but is still confident of keeping him at White Hart Lane.
Stamford Bridge boss Andre Villas-Boas has already added Valencia’s Juan Mata to his midfield ranks and wants to pair him with the Croatian.
Speculation was rife that Modric was close to leaving after being left out of Monday night’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United.
Redknapp is keen use the Croatian in the next two games against Hearts in the Europa League on Thursday and Manchester City on Sunday and maintains his career in North London isn’t over.
Redknapp told the Sun: “I don’t think he’s played his last game for us.
“I want him to play for us against Manchester City on Sunday. He’s a good player and we need him out there for us.
“We’ve got Hearts on Thursday too and I’d love to get a game into him.
“I can see Chelsea continuing to chase Luka but we really want to keep him.”
Chelsea are expected to make £30 million offer for Modric before the transfer window closes after having two previous bids rejected.
