da betano casino: Feyenoord await Manchester United this evening in Europa League action. Although they top the Eredivisie with five wins from five, the Rotterdam club are no great shakes, and with a 36-year-old Dirk Kuyt still a key man at De Kuip, it’s likely that Jose Mourinho will fancy his chances in the Netherlands.
da apostaganha: Indeed, it seems that ‘the Special One’ is so confident/not bothered about the competition that he’s come to the conclusion that he won’t need captain Wayne Rooney or full-backs Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw, who have been left out of his 20-man squad.
There are a few big names, chiefly world-record £89m man Paul Pogba and goal-getter supreme Zlatan Ibrahimovic, included, but it seems that ‘Mou’ will rotate his team for this game – after all, qualification from a group containing tonight’s opponents, Fenerbahce and Zorya Luhansk shouldn’t be too tricky.
It makes sense to do so, too, and here’s a heavily-changed potential XI that will surely excite Man United fans…
GK – David de Gea
We’ll keep it simple in goal with De Gea. There’s no reason to rest the Spaniard so early in the season and, barring injury, there’s little at risk in terms of playing him in Rotterdam. Besides, in this XI, it will be good to have a regular at the back…
RB – Timothy Fosu-Mensah
Although some will be calling for Matteo Darmian to get a go at right-back, preparing for the future makes more sense, and Fosu Mensah needs game time. Although not an orthodox full-back, the burly defender is capable in the role, as he showed last season.
CB – Michael Carrick
It’s likely Man United will have plenty of the ball, so Carrick’s metronomic passing from the very base of the team makes some sense. Although at 35 his movement is not what it used to be, he’s a capable centre-back.
CB – Chris Smalling
The England international needs game time after slipping behind both Daley Blind and Eric Bailly in the pecking order. Let us not forget, Smalling was one of Man United’s standout players last season.
LB – Marcos Rojo
The Argentine is by no means a bombing on full-back, but he is defensively adept and boasts decent technique, which are traits needed away from home in Europe.
CM – Morgan Schneiderlin
The Frenchman, on paper at least, seems a good fit in a Mourinho side, so it would be nice to see him get a run out after being handed just five minutes of Premier League game time this season.
CM – Ander Herrera
Alongside the more defensively disciplined Schneiderlin, the classy Spaniard could provide the creative spark in midfield. Man United fans have been calling for Herrera to get more game time for a while now, and the trip to Rotterdam is a good opportunity for him to justify their faith.
CM – Paul Pogba
Even though this side is heavily rotated, we think giving Pogba a go in an orthodox midfield three makes so much sense. The £89m man has struggled to get going at Old Trafford so far and with his best performances at Juventus having come as part of a central trio, it appears wise to at least give him a go there!
RW – Anthony Martial
In front of a more responsible defensive player like Fosu-Mensah, Martial may have the freedom to break forward and use his attacking instincts while not leaving his side too exposed – which is important in a Mourinho system.
LW – Memphis Depay
Man United fans have been treated to just one minute of Memphis this season in league action. The Dutchman’s Old Trafford career has not been the success he’d have hoped for upon his move from PSV Eindhoven, but a return to the comforts of the Netherlands seems as good a time as any to give him another go.
ST – Marcus Rashford
With Rooney left behind and Ibrahimovic no longer suited to playing two-games-a-week, logic points towards Rashford’s inclusion in the XI. In fact, Mourinho has confirmed he will play against Feyenoord, so there we go!
