da aposte e ganhe: Arsenal target Clement Grenier is set to stay in France for one more season, according to The Mirror.
da dobrowin: The 22-year-old had been linked with a move to the Premier League, and in particular to North London.
However, reports in L’Equipe suggest that the Lyon midfielder could extend his current deal to June 2015. This would mean he cannot leave the Ligue 1 side this summer, meaning a transfer away from Lyon is more likely to happen next year.
His current deal expires next summer, which would mean Grenier could leave the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2014. But by signing a 12 month extension, Grenier could still be sold for some money by Lyon in January, or after.
Earlier this month, Grenier had hinted that he would leave Lyon: “I have more or less made a decision about which club I want to join,” he said.
“I have made the choice for sporting reasons above all. Arsenal? It could well be them.
“There would be competition for places, but you get that at all big clubs and it does not stop me making my decision.”
But the new reports suggest that Wenger will have to wait to sign the 22-year-old Frenchman, who came off the bench in both of his nation’s friendly defeats to Brazil and Uruguay this month.
Would Grenier be a good signing for Wenger? Is the youngster the right player Wenger needs?
