da imperador bet: The moments that matter in football happen in each box. Scoring goals and not conceding is the recipe for wins, and both actions seem to be difficult for Liverpool this term, with Jurgen Klopp’s Reds possessing a negative goal difference (-4) after 24 games, making them the only side in the Premier League’s top nine below 0.
da apostebet: There’s certainly an argument that the Reds need a major overhaul this summer, but with the past two off-seasons having seen a vast array of comings and goings, can the Merseyside club really expect to kick on while bedding in a host of new players yet again?
As it stands Marko Grujic will already be coming in, so perhaps just concentrating cash on one or two areas makes sense.
With that in mind, players to pick the lock in the final third and keep the ball from flashing into the net at the other end may be the antidote. Here are FIVE options…
Alexandre Lacazette
Liverpool lack pace and goals up front… Lacazette is quick and finds the back of the net with regularity.
Not a bad option then! Interestingly, the 24-year-old seems to be in the tier below the ‘world-class’ market the sort of teams that will cherry-pick players the Reds will be looking at, which should, in theory, make Anfield a more appealing option to the Frenchman than many others.
Although that may seem a little uninspiring, Lacazette’s statistics are far, far, FAR more encouraging. 42 league goals since the start of the 2012/13 season (87 games) in a team that has often seen key players taken away by rival sides is some return, while he even found the back of the net for Lyon twice in Champions League action this term, even though the Ligue 1 side were fairly appalling in Europe.
Mario Gotze
What’s wrong with some ambition? Okay, Gotze may appear to be in the zone just above Liverpool’s usual transfer niche, but the Merseysiders boast the sort of trump card that could be enough to give them a genuine chance: Jurgen Klopp.
The German coach nurtured the World Cup-winning playmaker at Dortmund, helping him to develop into the player that Bayern Munich controversially signed for a big fee from their bitter rivals in 2013.
Since then he has struggled somewhat to make a real impact at club level, and although Liverpool presents (sorry, Kopites) a real step down, he could be encouraged by the ‘project’ Klopp has at Anfield and the chance to work with the tactician once again.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen
Simon Mignolet has been handed, for reasons many have been unable to fathom, a new five-year contract and a pay-rise over the course of the past few weeks, despite his error-strewn performances both under Klopp and Brendan Rodgers.
Even though this seems to be a signal that the German is ready to stand by the man signed from Sunderland in 2013, but reported interest in Ter Stegen seems to suggest that a new No.1 is at least being considered.
The German was considered to be one of the best young goalies around prior to his move from Borussia Monchengladbach to Barcelona in 2014, but since then he’s been limited to European games, with fellow arrival Claudio Bravo having hoovered up the majority of the minutes. Game time at Anfield? He’d be tempted, surely!
Virgil van Dijk
Van Dijk? You what? Yep, the Dutchman has been simply stunning so far this season since swapping Celtic for Southampton, with Squawka ranking him as the fourth highest scoring defender in any of Europe’s top five leagues.
The Dutchman is commanding, quick, a threat from attacking set-pieces and has been a regular part of a backline with a better defensive record (24 conceded) than table-topping Leicester.
The Dejan Lovren episode serves as a warning, while the stigma attached to Liverpool raiding the Saints is also an issue, but this could be a deal worth pursuing.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Big money would be needed. Like, seriously BIG money, but, as Chinese teams are showing, ludicrous quantities of cash offset playing in the Champions League, and Aubameyang could be worth the investment… especially with the TV revenue scooped in the Premier League simply dizzying.
The Gabon international is lightening fast, scores goals for fun (20 in the Bundesliga this term) and is in his peak at 26. In short, he’s Daniel Sturridge, but without the injury problems!
