da fezbet: Algerian International Madjid Bougherra’s Rangers career may well be coming to an end this summer, after the former Charlton man turned down a two year contract extension.
da prosport bet: Bougherra signed for the Glasgow giants for £2.5 million in 2008 and has been an integral part of the side, but it now appears he would like to return to England to have a crack at the Premier League.
“I have spent three wonderful years in Glasgow and I want a new challenge” said Bougherra who is likely to interest a range of Premiership sides.
The no nonsense defender has made his intentions clear to Rangers, but he is happy to look elsewhere if an opportunity in England doesn’t arise. “My priority is to play in the Premier League, for sure. Now if it does not happen, I shall go and play in either Turkey or the Gulf countries” (BBC)
He may yet have to honour the last year of his contract with Rangers if they refuse to let him leave in the summer, although this would mean he would leave for free in 2012.
The 28 year old hasn’t featured for Rangers since their 2-1 victory over Celtic in the Co-operative Insurance Cup final last month. While he remains a Rangers player he is still committed, “But for now, I’m still at Rangers and we have a lot to play for this season. I’ve not left Rangers yet.” said Bougherra.
