Christian Eriksen has suggested that he still wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur, per EkstraBladet.
What’s the word?
The Denmark international confirmed that he wanted to take on a new challenge following the Champions League final defeat to Liverpool.
Sources confirmed to Football FanCast during the summer that a major bid for the playmaker would have been accepted but that one was not forthcoming.
Eriksen has subsequently stayed at Spurs and scored in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday.
But he has hinted that he remains open to a move, with his contract expiring in the summer.
He said: “I wish I could decide myself, like you can do in the Football Manager, but I can’t do that sadly.
“I don’t think it was wrong [to outline his plans for an exit].
“But this is football and you never know what happens in football. A lot of things play a part.”
Sticking to his guns
Eriksen is sticking to his guns and it is easy to see why.
He was left embarrassed by the fact that no elite European club came in for him, despite reports suggesting he had set his heart on a move to either Real Madrid or Barcelona.
It remains likely that he could leave next summer; neither Spanish club would have to pay a transfer fee if they were to agree a deal with him.
But now comes crunch time and the need for Eriksen to prove himself.

He is 27 and should be at his peak.
If he can prove as much this season, a move will surely be his, and Spurs will reap the benefits too.
This could well be a win-win situation for both club and player.
